Message from Director of NIT , Trichy to GCC Leadership: The Future is here , Get involved

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

Welcome folks to the first episode of GCC Veda . Before we begin a bit of introductions leading to interview of Director of the consistently ranked top notch engineering college of the country .

(About the author): I, Suman Mishra, have had a very interesting journey in the IT and Engineering or over 16 years across industries (Telecom, Automotive, Manufacturing, Healthcare, FinTech, CPG/Retail , Digital natives ) . Essayed various roles and have clearly had experiences , for which I might write a book ;) , but that's for another day . Last few years , have been amazing and revelation of sort. I got deep into this fascinating world of GCC (Global Capability Centers). To the less informed, GCC (aka GIC, Captives, R&D Center), to be loosely put, are engineering centers of global majors who look up to India for the frugal engineering and abundance of talent pool. A snapshot of GCC market here in India is as follows.

(About our Guest for today/Thought leader) : Director of NIT Trichy , Mrs. Mini Shaji Thomas is credited to bring the industry closer to the engineering college. True the college has been chosen destination of brilliant minds of the country since decades (Read more in here) but Director Ma'am has put lot of feathers in her hat. She is the leader behind Siemens setting up a 190 crore INR Manufacturing CoE in the college. There are similar and deeper engagements with Tata Motors, Texas Instruments (others are in pipeline). As we recognize and celebrate Women's day , a special salute to her , since she is the only women leader of the 82 government funded engineering colleges.

She opens up her views and heart for the GCC Leaders and Academia . Covers points on how do we manage the talent gap, how do we keep India at forefront of engineering destinations when disruptions are all around ? How Colleges like NIT Trichy are collaborating with engineering majors from across the world ? How GCC can build road map with the engineering college of repute ? Some of the success stories .. (The video interview)

(Important Takeaways) : A 10 minute of video but quite a few action items and notable points . I would recommend each one of you to go through the content to maximize your returns, but here are few

(A) GCC Leaders (if you are in a GCC /GIC market)

  • Do you want to share your success stories , experiences ?

  • Do you have any messages for your peers (GCC) ?

  • Do you want to explore collaboration with engineering colleges example setting up CoE ?

  • Do you want to introduce some segment into the colleges so that students are more future ready on Day zero of their corporate life ?

  • Do you , as an individual or team , want to set up a short course for industry immersion ?

(B) For Academia

  • Do you want your students (alumnus and leaders for tomorrow) to go through a more rigorous , more endowed, more intellectually stimulating , more relevant internships ?

  • Do you want to have a re-look at the overall personality development for students so that they are better placed for long term career ?

For both the segments, please do reach out to info@gccveda.com . As mentioned we are thoroughly understaffed , under resourced so apologies in advance if we are a bit late in reverting to your inquiries and emails . We promise to revert back each one of them.

This entire idea was germinated because we were sick and tired of waiting for a platform to arrive for this market for GCC. True there are some wannabe McKinsey in this segment but we are strictly no nonsense, no brokerage platform (we don't broker deals), meant for GCC , of GCC and by GCC (We dont have platforms to pull data from various GCC and sell it to others / or SI) .

This is born out of pure personal passion and in enthusiasm we trust . Keep supporting us. Thanks in advance.
